Several characters in the novel have to make choices about disobeying authority or rules. Who does this and why? Is it ever ok to disobey a rule or authority? Why?
Kit does this afew times in the book. Like the day she goes out to the meadow with Judith and she falls in love with it. Then she gets sad and angry one day and she runs back there and meets the old lady which nobody is allowed to be friends with. Well, Kit learns to like her and she disobeys the rules and visits her over and over again. Sometimes it can be okay to disobey but not always. If it turns into good towards the end it is possibly okay but you might still get into trouble for what you did. Sometimes disobeying can turn out to just be a big mess. So it can be good and it can be bad.
kit has disobeyed some rules, like she has went to Hannah Tupper when aunt Rachel said not to. no, i think its not good to disobey rules because if someone said to do something than you should do it, unless its something dumb.
Prudence does this beacause she was hesitant to go into Hannah Tupper's house to put her hornbook in a safe place. Yes, I think it is okay to disobey a law to do something you have to do ,like help someone or to go above and beyond and break the rules to do that.
Kit goes to meet Hannah Tupper, even though Matthew Wood says that she should not visit Hannah because she is an old Quaker, not a Puritan. Kit breaks this rule because she believes that Hannah is lonely and needs a friend to talk to once in a while. I think it's okay to disobey a rule if it means helping someone who is in danger or is hurt or in pain.
Kit disobeys rules a lot in the English colony. She disobeys her uncle Matthew, because she goes to see Hannah when she is not allowed to. I think disobeying rules for the most part is bad, but you need to do whatever is best for you, and the people around you.
Kit does it because she dis obeys Matthew Because she is going to Hannahs house. No but only if you have to because some people are dare devils and some arent.
Kit disobeyes people in Wethersfield a lot. She goes to Hannah Tupper's house and teaches Prudence to read in the meadow. Matthew caught her one day because she was late but I still think she will sneak out.
Kit and Prudence both disobay the rules. Kit visits Hannah which uncle Mattew forbids. Prudence disobays her parents by learnig to read and write and by learning with Kit which her mom forbids. I think breaking rules is okay if you gain something from it or if it helps other people.
Kit and Prudence both disobey rules alot. Kit goes to Hannah when she is not supposed to. Prudence visits Hannah and learns with Kit.Disobeying rules is bad in a way, but it might help you. I would disobey rules if someone was in danger and needed help.
Kit breaks the rules for visiting hannah. Because she knows that hanah is a good person. yes because you can get a good friendship and friends are the ultimate thing to have because you have the greatest treasure.
i think Kit on a regular bases disobeys rules, she was banned from going to Hannah Tupper's house but yet she goes because she knows Hannah is just an old woman and is quite lonely. Hannah was told to go to church but she doesn't because she does ont believe that religion. So we all break rules but sometimes if someone knew what you were thinking they might part with you on your decision. I think it is O.K to disobey rules you think not well of.
I think Kit, Hannah, Nat, and Prudence all disobey the rules. I think they do this because something is a lot more important to them than breaking the rules. In this case, it is friendship. It is ok to break the rules if you know it will help someone.
Kit disobeys authorities a TON!!! One of the times she did was when she kept on going to Hannah Tupper's house when Uncle Matthew told her not to. The time with the worst outcome was when she messed up the dame school. Only maybe that one didn't count because she didn't know she was disobeying an authority, she just thought she was making school fun. Also I was wondering whether Goodwife Cruff's first name was really Goodwife, and if it is that is sort of a weird name. :P
Kit pretty much disobeys rules on a reagular basis. She visits Hannah even when she's not allowed to. She goes and teaches Prudence in secret! Prudence is also not playing along with everyone else. She is not following the rules her mother lays down for her. Prudence sneaks away to learn how to read. Now, in Wethersfiel, when people see someone doing something that the colonists usually don't do, they call it abnormalty. They are so sure of thier rules, that is you don't follow them it's a bad thing.
I think Kit has disobeyd more than once but for an example she goes over to Hannah's house when she knows that if she gets caught she might get in trouble, but I think Kit is doing the right thing in this case.
i agee with malory i think that prudence brakes a rule and she goes to visit hanah even thogh hermother dose not alow her to i also think that kit braeks at least 2 rules in this book first of all she wears a colorful dress to curch but i think that is ok since she did not have anything else to wear. she also goes to visit hamah even after uncle matew fobid her to.
I think Hannanh Tupper is the one who disobeyes the rules of going to meeting. but the problem is, is that Hannah is a Quaker, and beacause of her religion. 1. She doesn't go to meeting 2. She has to pay fines to the meeting house beacause she doesn't come and 3. She is not welcome. There is nothing wrong for the way she is. It just depends on how much the town of Wethersfield trusts.
Kit has disobeyed some rules like going to Hannah Tuppers house and wearing fancy/clorfull dresses at church. And teaching Prudence might be one because her mom thinks she is stupid.
Kit makes lots of risky desitions. She teaches Prudence how to read, and she goes to Hannah's house even though people in Wethersfield don't like it. She makes her disitions based on what is right for other people. I don't think it's good to disobey the athority because if you get caught, then there might be bad punishments.

Kit is disobeying the rules because maybe she should be able to. it is not okay to not obey rules because, sometimes there can be very VERY big consequences
i think that it is kit that disobeyed alot i think 1 thing she disobeyed was like the time she told prudence to go to hannah tuppers house because she isent that mean as you think and another time is when she made the kids do a play and it turned out to be that the childern thought thatyou would really fight and the shcool master came in to see what was going on and then kit got fired.Anyway kit has done alot of stuff i cant name but sometime she dose the right things at the right time but she is alittle foolhardy
I think that Prudence, Kit, Nat, the other sailors in the stocks, and the men that were at the meeting for the charter all disobeyed laws and rules, but in different ways. Only when you desperately need to should you disobey the authority. For example, when someone is in trouble and needs help, or maybe if your in trouble and need to ask for help.
Kit disobeys a lot but she is not the only one who disobeys. Kit goes to see Hannah even after Uncle Matthew forbids her to. Prudence gets education even after her mom told her she could not go to school. Also I think all of Weathersfield disobeys because they all have made a charter that is like their independence from England. It's okay but you do have to know if you disobey there will be a consequence.
I agree with Mallory H. because I also beleive that Prudene disobeyed the rules and went to Hannah's house to keep her hornbook safe. I also agree with Mckenna and Richie because I also think that Kit disobeyed her uncles order, that she was not allowed to go to Hannah"s house. I don't really think that it is ever okay to disobey a rule or authority because youmight get in so much trouble.
Kit disoeyd bcause she goes to Hannah Tuppers house even though shes not supposed too. But i think that she is being nice snd there nothing wrong with her doing that
I think Kit disobeys the rules a lot. She messed up the Dame school by breaking a rule. She goes to Hannah Tuppers after mathew told her not to. I also think the whole town of Wethersfeild disobeyed the rules but it was to protect their rules/charter. It was when they stole the charter and hid it somewhere we don't know to proctect it because they don't want to follow the kings rules they want their own. In this book they disobey rules i think normally to protect or help and that is a pretty good reason for breaking them.
Lots of people disobey rules in this book whether they were breaking the rules for a good cause or a bad cause. Kit visits Hannah and when she first arrived she went against the Puritan ways by dressing in a fancy way ( but that was not her fault because she had no other clothes). Hannah does not follow the rules of Wethersfield because she does not attend Meeting. Prudence breaks the rules by learning how to read and by also visiting Hannah. By playing that All Hallows Eve trick Nat went against the rules and got himself in the stocks. I also think that some of the people in Wethersfield went against authority by making the charter " disappear ", I think all of the people who broke rules have some good reasons for doing this and some bad reasons. Like I think it is good that the charter "disappeared ", but I think that Nat should have not played the trick and he deserved to be punished. I think that it's ok to go against authority if you have a reason that you truly believe in.
Well I think Prudence does this. How? She disobey's her mother by going to school, and learning. Also I think that yes, it is okay to disobey an authority or rule. But only at certin times like, for saftey, an emergency, or if it means going against something you believe in. Ther are many more these are just the few that I can remember/think of.
I think there are many people in this book who disobey rules sucha as Kit. Kit disobeyed Matthew by going to Hannah Tupper's house. There is also Prudence. Prudence has disobeyed her mother by going with Kit and learning to read. And lastly, Hannah. Hannah has disobeyed and will keep disobeying the laws of not going to Meeting.
a ton of people in this book disobey i think why dose it matter that kit dose. if kit gets in trouble everyone else should also i just want to add it rocks finally some person gets put in the stocks, but it is nat.
Kit dis obeyes the rules buy going to Hannah's house because she helps Hannah pay the money she has to pay and helps around the house too. Yes it is okay to disobey a rule because somtimes if you don't obey the rules then you help someone or get somthing you need to get done before you can get the thing done the person is asking you to do.
Prudence for example was unsure about going to Hannah's house and went and loved Hannah and now goes when ever she can even though her Mother says not to and says Hannah is a witch.
There are a lot of people in this book that have disobeyed the rules/authority such as Nat, Kit, Prudence, Hannah, Uncle Matthew, and the people of Wethersfield . They all have for different reasons, and they all have done different things. I think it is ok to disobey authority when the rules hurt someone, when they greatly affect the way you live, and when the rules go against your religion.
I think that in that situation it was okay to disobey becuase they were going to have a british goverment so matthew was prguduce to to keep the charter and william made the right choice to hide the charter. so all on widows eve they all made right choises to disobey
Kit does this alot in the book. She visits Hannah and Hannah does not follow the rules like not going to meeting. And when she first arrives she wears fancy clothes.
Kit, the town, Prudence and nat all disobey rules. Kit and Prudence disobey by going and seeing Hannah Tupper. The town disobeys the king by not handing over the charter and Nat disobeys the rules by illuminating William's house.I think for the most part it is not good to disobey but if someone is truly being unfair then i think you can.
I think that it is right for kit to disobey mathew because she only being nice by visiting hannah and hannah has done nothing wrong so mathew has no right not letting kit go to hannahs house.
The Widow Hannah Tupper disobeys rules by not going to meeting. I think it is ok because she is quaker but she still gets fines. This is ok because it is what she believes and that is a reason to disobey authority.
I think Kit disobeys a lot by going to Hannah Tupper's house and messing up the Dame School.Kit disobeyed the rule of going to Hannah Tupper's house because, she likes being with Hannah Tupper and she messed the Dame School up by doing a play out of the bible. L think it's okay to disobey the rule when it's for safety.
i think that nat should not have done the pumpkin thing because he is getting back at william for something that william didn't even know about and i think that was wrong.
It is ok to disobey the rules if they are unfair like Kit not allowed to visit Hannah or if the need/want is greater than the consequences to the people. Ex: People disobeyed and hid the Charter because they didn't want Andros to have it was stronger than disobeying Andros.
Prudence goes against her mother rules because she would like to learn but her mother says she is to stupid. She probebly wants to learn and all sso show her mother what she can do. I think it is ok to go against the law or rules but only if you have a reasonable reason. If you believe what you are doing is right then I think it would be perfectly fine.
Ki Tyler disobeys the rules because she visits Hannah Tupper, the quaker. I think it is ok if Kit goes to Hannah's, because she said Hannah always had a way to make her feel better. There is no reason people should be treated differently just cause there a bit different.
Kit disobeys authority several times during the book. She continues to go to Hannah Tupper's home after being forbidden. She does things that the people of Wethersfield think are insane. I think that she does this because she is not going to change no matter what they think. She will do what she thinks that she needs to do. I think that if you believe that you know what you are doing is right, continue doing that thing. But if you know that you aren't doing the right thing, then just don't.
Prudence is one of the people that disobeys rules. She disobeys by going with Kit to take reading lessons. She also disobeys by going to Hannah's house. Kit disobeys laws by going to see Hannah too. Even after Matthew Wood strictly told her not to. I think some times it's okay to disobey rules unless their like your parents rules and there not completely ridiculous.
I think Nat has disobeyed the rules because he put jack o lanterns in william ashby's windows. I don't think it was ok to disobey the rules because that was very disrespectful back then.
I think two people disobey the rules and I think there both have a right to. There is more people to write about who disobey the rules but I'm going to do two and that is Kit and Hannah. Kit does a lot of disobeying like going to see Hannah when Matthew said not to but I think that is ok because; one, she told Nat she would and, two, she has somewhere to go when she needs a break from working. Now Hannah has disobeyed the rules by not going to the meetings. I think that is ok because she is not a peratin. Know one should tell you to be if you are not something but someone is trying to get you to be that way you should not because I believe you should be yourself not someone else. I think it can be ok to go against authority if there is a reason and that you believe it is ok.
Kit does this afew times in the book. Like the day she goes out to the meadow with Judith and she falls in love with it. Then she gets sad and angry one day and she runs back there and meets the old lady which nobody is allowed to be friends with. ReplyDeletewell sometimes its okey i guess...i mean the countries like us wouldn't be how they are right now if they did fallow the rules
